  • Evatt 2012 Registrations Open
  • Be a diplomat for a day!

The Evatt Trophy Competition is Australia's Premier Debating Competition. In 2011, over one thousand teams from around Australia took part, representing countries in teams of two in simulated UN Security Council Debate. This year, the Evatt Trophy Competition in NSW is bigger and better than ever, with more teams, more rounds, and more regions being engaged. Why not team up with someone from your school, and get involved?

    Now it's YOUR turn.

In the Evatt Trophy competition, teams are assigned countries on a simulated UN Security Council, with up to 15 teams participating in a full round. Students in Years 9-12 represent member states of the Council in a series of debates on UN style resolutions engaging in matters of international piece and security, emulating the process of decision-making carried out by the real Security Council in New York.

  • UN Youth NSW Conference 2012
  • People. Power. Revolution.

In 2011, the voice of democracy was heard around the world with renewed vigour. Revolutions in Tunisia, Syria, Libya and Egypt among others demonstrated the immense power of individuals rising up against tyranny and injustice. Demonstrations, banners and tweets called for revolution, freedom and a voice. These were revolutions powered by people, and enabled by technology.

The global vommunity faced questions of humanitarian responsibilities, the application of human rights and the power of free people.

    Now it's YOUR turn.

The 2012 UN Youth NSW Conference will give YOU the chance to answer these questions. From 23rd - 25th March 2012, we're inviting students from years 9-12 to a jam-packed weekend of workshops, speaker sessions, debate and problem solving. The conference will provide a fantastic introduction to global diplomacy and the United Nations. You will be given the chance to express your views, to meet other excited and engaged young people, and the opportunity to to represent a country in a simulation of the United Nations General Assembly.
